Why It Matters
Professional Soft Washing in the Fox Valley
Look at the north side of most Fox Valley homes and you'll see it: a green or gray film on the siding, dark spots under the eaves, and black streaks running down the gutters. That's algae, mildew and dirt, and our humid summers and shaded, tree-lined lots give it everything it needs to spread. It doesn't just look dated. Left alone, organic growth holds moisture against your siding and trim and keeps coming back thicker every year.
Rinsing with a garden hose or blasting with a pressure washer doesn't fix it. A hose won't kill the growth, so it's back in a few months. A pressure washer can force water behind vinyl panels, chip stucco, erode mortar and strip paint. Soft washing solves both problems.
Low Pressure, the Right Solution
Soft washing uses about the same water pressure as a garden hose, paired with a cleaning solution mixed for your siding. The solution does the work: it kills algae, mildew and mold at the root and breaks down dirt and grime, so a gentle rinse carries it all away. Because the growth is killed instead of just knocked loose, the house stays clean longer than it would after a pressure wash.
It's the right method for vinyl siding, fiber cement, stucco and painted or natural brick, along with soffits, fascia and trim. We also clean the outside faces of your gutters to remove the black "tiger stripes" that regular washing leaves behind. If the gutters are full, add gutter cleaning to the same visit.
Your Plants Are Protected
Before any solution touches the house, we soak the plants, beds and grass along the foundation with clean water. Saturated plants don't absorb much of anything else. After the house is rinsed, we rinse the landscaping again, along with walks, windows and anything else nearby. If you have plantings you're especially careful with, point them out and we'll work around them.
Roofs and Commercial Buildings
The same approach is how roofs should be cleaned. Those black streaks on asphalt shingles are algae, and a pressure washer will strip the granules that protect your roof. Light dirt cleans up faster than years of heavy algae and mildew. Gutter tiger stripes and rust stains are quoted based on how much there is.
